Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur who unsuccessfully ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, will officially launch his campaign for governor of Ohio on Feb. 24, The Hill reported.

Ramaswamy, a Cincinnati native who founded biotech and financial businesses, will run against Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost in the GOP primary to replace outgoing Gov. Mike DeWine, who is term-limited. Ramaswamy has already received the support of Ohio Treasurer Robert Sprague and from several former advisers to Vice President J.D. Vance, a former Ohio senator.

Ramaswamy's campaign event will take place at CTL Aerospace Inc. in Cincinnati, with additional events to take place the next day in Toledo at Glass City Center and The Local Bar in the Cleveland suburb of Strongsville.

Ramaswamy was set to join billionaire Elon Musk as the co-head of the newly former Department of Government Efficiency, but left just before the organization's launch.

"It was my honor to help support the creation of DOGE," Ramaswamy wrote in a social media post last month. "I'll have more to say very soon about my future plans in Ohio. Most importantly, we're all-in to help President Trump [make] America great again!"
