Tom Cruise is urging television viewers to turn off a setting designed to reduce blur.

His comments came as he and writer Christopher McQuarrie noted the home release of “Mission: Impossible -- Fallout,” the Independent newspaper reported.

“I’m taking a quick break from filming to tell you the best way to watch Mission: Impossible Fallout (or any movie you love) at home,” Cruise tweeted.

Attached to the tweet is a video of Cruise and McQuarrie discussing the “motion smoothing”setting.

McQuarrie noted that it is a “digital effect on most high definition televisions. It is intended to reduce motion blur in sporting events and other high definition programming.”

And Cruise added: “The unfortunate side effect is that it makes most movies look like they were shot on high-speed video rather than film.”

They urged television viewers to go online to determine how to turn off the setting.
