Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., praised President Donald Trump on Friday for delivering “results for American workers,” but slammed Democrats for their “job-killing socialist programs and high taxes.”
His comments came in a tweet. Scalise wrote: “@realDonaldTrump continues to defy expectations & deliver results for American workers! Democrats need to explain to everyone with new jobs & higher wages why they want to take that away from them with their job-killing socialist programs & high taxes.”
Scalise’s tweet linked to a CNBC report detailing strong job growth. It said nonfarm payrolls rose 224,000 in June, the unemployment rate edged higher, but was still near 50-year lows and wage growth was 3.1% year over year – just one-tenth of a point below market expectations.
