Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz does not plan to run for president in 2020, it was reported Friday morning.

The Washington Post and Axios both reported that Schultz, who had already suspended the idea of running, has officially killed any plans of joining the crowded field of White House hopefuls challenging President Donald Trump.

Schultz was pondering the thought of running as an independent, which Democrats criticized out of fears that he could have taken away votes from whoever Trump's left-leaning challenger would be in the general election.

Schultz announced his plans not to run in a three-page letter sent to supporters, the Post reported.
