Menendez Judge Tells Jury to Keep Trying After Deadlock Note

Monday, 13 November 2017 03:07 PM EST ET

Jurors in the corruption trial of Senator Robert Menendez sent a note to the judge saying they were deadlocked on all 18 counts against him, prompting the judge to say they should return on Tuesday and resume deliberations.

U.S. District Judge William Walls told the panel to go home Monday afternoon and clear their heads before returning to federal court in Newark, New Jersey. Walls had ordered the jury to restart deliberations on Monday morning with an alternate after a juror was excused last week for a pre-approved vacation.
