Charlie Munger, the 95-year-old vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, this week called America's healthcare system a "national disgrace," saying it should be scrapped and replaced with a single-payer system.
"The whole damn system is going wrong. And the amount of unnecessary tests … is a national disgrace," Munger told Yahoo News, in his first interview after the company's annual shareholder's meeting.
"The system is ridiculous," said Munger, considered Warren Buffetts, right-hand man. "If a young family has to pay off $5,000 deductible to have a baby, they don't really have medical insurance."
"I'm one of the few Republicans you'll ever talk to who thinks we should have a single-payer system," he added. "We have an insane medical system. I don’t like it."
