A federal judge has dismissed a criminal case against Russell Douglas Warren, a Michigan man who faced allegations of threatening to kill President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, The Hill reported Saturday.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Patricia Morris maintained that Warren's statements did not constitute a direct and immediate threat to physically harm either the president or vice president.
Warren, 48, was charged with making threats to the president, the vice president, the Smithsonian museums, Air Force One, Disney theme parks, One World Trade Center, and Mount Rushmore, among other locations.
It was later revealed he had posted hundreds of messages on X making threats against various public figures, including journalists, celebrities, Trump administration Cabinet members, 2024 presidential candidates, and other politicians.
The U.S. Secret Service identified Warren via his IP address and apprehended him on Monday. The Detroit News reported that Warren was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon in 2022.
