President Donald Trump on Tuesday criticized Axios for its report the president suggested using nuclear bombs to halt hurricanes from hitting the United States.

"Axios (whatever that is) sat back and said GEEEEE, let's see, what can we make up today to embarrass the President? Then they said, 'why don't we say he wants to bomb a hurricane, that should do it!' The media in our Country is totally out of control!" Trump tweeted Tuesday.

Trump on Monday also denied the report.

"The story by Axios that President Trump wanted to blow up large hurricanes with nuclear weapons prior to reaching shore is ridiculous," he tweeted from the G-7 summit. "I never said this. Just more FAKE NEWS!"

According to Axios, a source who was at a White House briefing said Trump had asked why a bomb cannot be dropped inside the eye of a hurricane to disrupt it as it heads across the Atlantic from Africa.

Trump raised the idea in two different conversations, according to the news outlet.
