Here is how the rest of the poll results, released Wednesday, break down:

  • 29% say it should be permissible for small business owners to deny service to transgender people if doing so violates the merchants' religious beliefs.
  • 24% say it should be permissible to deny service to atheists.
  • 22% say it should be permissible to deny service to Muslims.
  • 19% say it should be permissible to deny service to Jews.
  • 15% say it should be permissible to deny service to African-Americans.

The poll, conducted April 9-20, surveyed 1,100 adults. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
