A former Democratic congressman said Friday that his votes in Florida's Senate and gubernatorial races were not counted because of an "invalid signature" on his absentee ballot.
With Florida's midterm elections results in chaos as votes continue to be discovered and counted in the Sunshine State, former Rep. Patrick Murphy, D-Fla., tweeted that the state is missing two of his votes:
"Hey @MarcACaputo, just saw notice from @PBCounty that my absentee ballot wasn't counted due to 'invalid signature' match. Should be +1 @NelsonForSenate @AndrewGillum. Must overhaul these ridiculous barriers to voting #FloridaRecount #FLSen #FLGov."
In a subsequent tweet, he wrote: "And +1 @nikkifried for that matter. #FlaPol."
Elections officials are still tallying votes in Florida's race for Senate and governor. On Thursday, Republican Gov. Rick Scott — who is trying to unseat Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson — filed a lawsuit against Broward County elections supervisor Brenda Snipes to force her to turn over records detailing the counting and collection of ballots cast in Tuesday's election.
