US State Dept. Reduces Staff in Egypt

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department Sunday moved to reduce its diplomatic presence in Egypt, saying it had authorized the voluntary departure of dependents of diplomats and non-essential workers.

The move came amid violent demonstrations in Cairo, Alexandria and other parts of Egypt against President Hosni Mubarak's government.
