The Democratic National Committee has postponed its summer convention in Milwaukee until mid-July because of concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.

"In our current climate of uncertainty, we believe the smartest approach is to take additional time to monitor how this situation unfolds so we can best position our party for a safe and successful convention," said Joe Solmonese, CEO of the Democratic National Convention Committee.

The convention, originally scheduled for July 13-17, is being moved to the week of August 17, a week before the Republican National Convention.
