President Donald Trump’s administration may impose a mandatory evacuation of all U.S. citizens in the region around Wuhan, China, where the coronavirus epicenter is located, Politico reports.

"The Department of State is working with the U.S. Government interagency and [the People's Republic of China] counterparts on staging additional flights for U.S. citizens to return to the United States from Wuhan," said a spokesperson for the State Department.

The U.S. already evacuated 195 Americans from Wuhan and relocated them to a military base in California, where they have been placed under a two-week quarantine, as will all U.S. evacuees from Wuhan, according to the CDC. As many as 1,000 Americans still remain, and flights to return them to the country will start on Monday, though this situation could change as events evolve.

The United Kingdom recently confirmed its first cases of coronavirus. Six have been confirmed in the U.S., and more than 8,000 cases have been confirmed worldwide.
