Bill Clinton at Univision Upfront: Focus on 'Radical Inclusion'

Bill Clinton has called on the advertising community to embrace the nation's growing diversity.

In a presentation at Univision Communications' upfront presentation on Tuesday morning, the former president told the crowd of media buyers and advertisers that businesses and governments should adhere to a practice of "radical inclusion" in order to succeed, given the nation's changing demographic profile.

Clinton spoke at the upfront event, held at Broadway's Lyric Theater, with Alicia Melendez, a news anchor for Fusion, the Univision/ABC News joint venture.

"The only thing that makes sense is to have a policy of radical inclusion," he told Melendez regarding corporate behavior. He noted that demographic changes have had huge impact on consumer behavior. "I'd study it if I were (an advertiser)," he joked.

Beyond his recommendations for business, Clinton called on the crowd to "be upbeat and forward-looking."
