Land and labor shortages have resulted in smaller homes being built across the United States.

According to Bloomberg, the average size of a new home built is now 2,420 square feet, 100 square feet smaller than the high of 2,520 in 2015.

The size of new homes had previously increased by a third between 1990 and 2015.

A study earlier this year, meanwhile, concluded that the drop in home ownership may have hit its bottom.

Foreign investment and purchases in U.S. residential real estate jumped to a new high this year, with $153 billion worth of properties closed on between April 2016 and March 2017.
