Tunisian Islamists Confirmed Election Winners

TUNIS, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Tunisia's Islamist Ennahda party won 90 seats in the country's 217-seat constituent assembly, three times the number won by its nearest rival, the chief of the election commission announced on Thursday.

Commission chief Kamel Jandoubi told a media conference the Congress for the Republic, a secularist party, came second in Sunday's election with 30 seats. (Reporting by Tarek Amara and Andrew Hammond; Writing by Christian Lowe; Editing by Louise Ireland)
