A U.S. service member was killed in eastern Afghanistan during an operation with Afghan forces against Islamic State, the U.S. military said on Wednesday.
In a statement, the military said the service member died as a result of wounds. It also said that other U.S. and Afghan forces were injured and medically evacuated.
