Scott Brown: GOP Won't Shut Down Gov't

Much of the mainstream media portrays Republicans as eager to force a government shutdown over spending issues. That’s not the case, says Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass, according to The Hill. He says Congress needs to work in a bipartisan manner to tackle the exploding budget deficit.

“I'm hopeful that everyone will kind of get in a room and just hammer things out and look at the budget and say, ‘Yes, we can keep this; we can't keep that,’ and send a very important message to the people of the country and the world that we're serious,” Brown said in an interview on NBC’s “Today.”

House Republicans have passed $60 billion in spending cuts, but the Democratic-controlled Senate has balked at the idea.
