ies, The Hill reports.
The Israeli government already felt betrayed by the president for his
2009 call for an Israeli settlement freeze as a pre-condition for peace talks with the Palestinians and for his 2009 Cairo speech, in which he urged a “new beginning” between the West and Muslims.
And now Israelis are worried about the ramifications of Egypt’s turmoil on U.S. policy. A continued push by Obama to reach out to Muslims will be seen in Israel as a slap in the face, Zalman Shoval, former Israeli ambassador to the United States, tells The Hill.
