Barbour Woos N.H. Republicans

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, a likely candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, is in New Hampshire, making friends with Republican heavyweights there, Politico reports.

He was the center piece of a meeting with Republican activists at the home of former state GOP chairwoman Jayne Millerick. She supported John McCain in 2008 and hasn’t yet committed to a candidate this time around. Barbour held another meeting with a small group of elected officials, a knowledgeable source told Politico.

Few of Millerick’s guests had much knowledge of Barbour. One of them even requested that Barbour give a quick biography for those who don’t know much about the former chairman of the Republican National Committee. Barbour enjoys the politicking, an aide said.
