President Barack Obama and the first lady made $1.7 million last year, down more than $3 million from 2009. The President and First Lady Michelle Obama made their taxes public on a White House blog earlier Monday.
Most of the Obamas income came from the president’s best-selling books. The Obama’s paid $453,770 in federal income taxes and about $51,000 in state income taxes to Illinois.
They gave away $245,075 to 36 different charities , with the largest contribution $131,075 to the Fisher House Foundation.
