Zogby: Obama Leads Among Arab Voters

According to a new poll from Zogby International and the Arab American Institute, Democratic candidate Barack Obama has a strong lead over Republican candidate John McCain with Arab-American voters.

The results of the AAI/Zogby poll showed that Obama had a 21-point lead over McCain with Arab voters, which could make a difference in hotly contested swing states. For example, Arab-Americans represent 5 percent of the vote in Michigan and 2 percent of the vote in Virginia and Ohio.

The poll also showed low approval ratings for the Bush administration among Arabs: 23 percent for overall performance, 31 percent for foreign policy, and 19 percent for economic policy.

Researchers surveyed 501 randomly selected Arab-American voters, with a plus or minus 4.5 percent margin of error.
