Dr. Mehmet Oz has developed a better way to burn belly fat based on data from the University of Southern California. His concept is that if you diet just five days a month, eating just 1,000 calories per day, you can lose more weight than if you stay on a diet for the full month. This makes the diet much easier stick with.

Dr. Oz’s program was written about in the February 22 issue of “First for Women” magazine. During the five days of dieting, you want to predominantly avoid meat and fish, eat vegetables with high fiber content instead. This will stimulate the destruction of fat cells, particularly in the belly.

This kind of the five-day diet also helps decrease the development of diabetes, cancer and heart disease according to current research.

In addition to eating only 1,000 calories five days a month, Dr. Oz suggests drinking black coffee because it can decrease food cravings up to 50 percent.

Also, if you’re not actively using your mind, try playing a game on your computer or cell phone. The use of your mind will increase the effectiveness of the diet program.

Dr. Oz’s third recommendation: If you feel hungry, take a stroll for about 15 minutes.
