Pro-Life Billboard Riles New York Liberals

A giant anti-abortion billboard in the trendy New York City neighborhood of SoHo is going over like week-old latte with some local politicians, the Wall Street Journal reports. The ad, mounted above an intersection not far from a Planned Parenthood clinic, states, “The most dangerous place for an African American is in the womb” above an image of a black girl.

An African-American pastor with Life Always, the Texas-based group that placed the ad, defended it as an appropriate message during Black History month. Blacks make up 13 percent of the U.S. population and account for 36 percent of abortions, according to federal statistics cited by Life Always.

Nevertheless, some New Yorkers are taking offense. “It borders on racist,” said Brooklyn Council Member Leticia James, who is African-American.
