Tori Spelling and hubby Dean McDermott are $700,000 poorer after the IRS raided their bank accounts.
The couple welcomed a new baby to their family just six weeks ago, but instead of being able to celebrate the new addition, they’ve been forced to deal with serious financial woes, according to The Hollywood Gossip.
In July 2016, Spelling and McDermott were hit with a federal tax lien of nearly $710,000, and that was from them not paying taxes in just 2014, said Page Six which broke the story on the latest IRS action.
McDermott reportedly owes a significant sum in back child support to his ex-wife, which could lead to jail time if it doesn’t get paid.
The couple’s financial struggles include a November 2016 suit by American Express for unpaid credit-card balances — $37,981.97 and $87,595.55, according to Entertainment Tonight.
The “Beverly Hills 90210” actress denied having financial problems when she spoke to People magazine last year. She has blamed money rumors on a chapter she wrote in her 2013 book, “Spelling It Like It Is,” Page Six noted.
“It’s no mystery why I have money problems. I grew up rich beyond anyone’s dreams," she said in the book. "Even when I try to embrace a simpler lifestyle, I can’t seem to let go of my expensive tastes.”
(Her father, Aaron Spelling, was the force behind “Dynasty,” “The Love Boat” and “Beverly Hills 90210” and was said to be worth $600 million at his death.)
“It was one chapter. I thought I was being relatable, talking about how celebrities go through financial struggles, too,” Spelling said.
