Yes, there is a sexy Ebola nurse costume on sale online just in time for Halloween from retailer Brands On Sale,
according to the New York Daily News, but it's raised the temperatures of some critics on social media.
The $59.99 costume (pictured below) comes with an "Ebola face shield," a breathing mask, safety goggles and blue latex gloves, but the fake leather yellow boots are sold separately.
Brands On Sale told the newspaper that the company has already sold hundreds of the costumes.
"As the deadly Ebola virus trickles its way through the United States, fighting its disease is no reason to compromise style,"
the Brands On Sales costume description reads. "The short dress and chic gas mask will be the talk of Milan, London, Paris, and New York as the world's fashionistas seek global solutions to hazmat couture."
The company's chief executive, Johnathon Weeks, told the Daily News his company actually got requests to "sexify" the costume and it is all in fun.
"Halloween is supposed to be fun. It is supposed to be outrageous," Weeks told the newspaper. "People need to lighten up and have a sense of humor about this holiday."
However, Tricia Gilbride of
Mashable.com wrote that she didn't find anything funny about the costume or the disease, especially with the record number of deaths in western Africa from the deadly virus with no end in sight.
"It always starts with the jokes," Gilbride wrote. "Whatever horrifying event is dominating the news in October is always tossed around as a topical Halloween costume, 'but let's make it sexy.' … Ebola is a disease that has killed thousands of people, infected thousands more, and continues to be a threat to global health – not a Halloween costume, sexy or otherwise."
Others agreed on social media.
