Colorado unveiled the first-ever climate-controlled pot vending machine over the weekend as the state works to serve its ever-developing marijuana industry.
The pot vending machine, a brainchild of Stephen Shearin's company American Green, was introduced Saturday at Montana's Smokehouse barbecue restaurant in Avon, Colo., but will ultimately be on display at Herbal Elements
dispensary in Eagle-Vail, KDVR.com reported.

The machine, dubbed the "Zazzz," will soon be stocked with marijuana, edibles, and other pot-related products but is only available for medicinal patients to use. The Zazzz utilizes biometrics and an ID scanning system to verify a person's age and medical status before
dispensing the goods, Colorado's 9 News noted.
"They would swipe their driver's license at which point multiple cameras would allow us to use some advanced biometrics to make absolutely certain that the person who swiped the card is the owner of that card," Shearin told 9 News. "These [Zazzz vending machines] are designed at this point legally to go inside dispensaries."
Greg Honan, owner of Herbal Elements, said the pot vending machines will serve the same function as self-checkouts at the grocery store.
"We're looking forward to using the Zazzz machine to easily track all this inventory . . . we're gonna eliminate the middle man," Honan told KDVR.com. "It’ll go straight from the budtender right into our machine. There’s no room for theft by patients, employees . . . there's no way to lose track of the inventory."
