Nicki Minaj's Nazi Imagery in 'Only' Music Video Is Slammed

By    |   Monday, 10 November 2014 11:23 AM EST

Nicki Minaj's music video to her song "Only" is drawing heavy criticism on social media for using what many consider Nazi-inspired imagery.

The single, which features Drake, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown, might normally be frowned on for its edgy explicit lyrics, but this time it's the visuals with soldiers resembling Nazi SS officers that have many up in arms on social media, according to Entertainment Tonight.

"The red armbands featured on the soldiers in the video have been compared to that of a Nazi uniform, while banners with the Young Money emblem (the record label Nicki's is signed with) have been compared to swastikas. Not to mention the appearance of a gas mask towards the end of the clip," noted Entertainment Tonight.

Kelley Dunlap of BuzzFeed wrote that the video seemed "Nazi-inspired," while a swastika-looking version of Minaj's initials is used throughout the video.

"There's a Nuremberg-esque parking lot for her tanks," Dunlap wrote. "And her soldiers are shown wearing Nazi-esque armbands."

There are a steady stream of comments of social media that also found the imagery disturbing.
