Kim Richards reportedly ditched rehab under the cover of night over the weekend, fleeing the Malibu facility because she has had enough.
Sources told TMZ the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, who will not be returning to the Bravo show, packed her bags and fled the center after more than 30 days of sobriety. Richards and the center’s staff, including doctors, were not getting along well, the source said.
“Kim left the inpatient program, but she will
continue to do outpatient,” an insider told Radar Online.
Richards originally check into the rehabilitation program for three months, but now says she is done for good.
“She said that she was finally cured and is ready to get on with her life because she has so many projects right now and inpatient rehab does not fit into her schedule,” the source told the celebrity gossip website.
Sources close to the situation said they fear Richards could relapse without inpatient treatment, according to Radar.
“Almost everyone in the program told her that it was not a good idea to leave treatment early, that she could relapse, but she didn’t listen,” the source said.
The "escape" comes as somewhat of a surprise since Richards was recently photographed smiling with family members who visited her July 4.
Ex-husband Monty Brinson posted on Instagram after the holiday weekend that Richards was doing great after surpassing a month of being alcohol-free and was
looking into reestablishing her career, Reality Tea reported.
The timing of her rehab departure coincided with her niece Nicky Hilton's wedding in London, which meant all of her relatives were across the pond at the time.
Her daughters Brooke Richards and Whitney Davis reportedly cut off communication with her following an aggressive outburst at
Brooke’s wedding in Mexico in May, Wonderwall reported. Sister Kyle Richards and husband Mauricio Umansky have also said they have “washed their hands” of her, now refusing to provide a safety net in demonstrating some tough love.
Financially cut off and potentially facing jail time for public intoxication, resisting arrest, and battery of a cop after an April incident at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Richards checked herself into the facility.
Richards has been in rehab before this admittance. She left the first facility and was booted from the second because of the incident at the Mexican wedding.
