Eddie Izzard on Sunday completed running his 26th and 27th marathons in 27 days in South Africa to raise $1.94 million for the charity Sport Relief.
The comedian, 54, finished the final race under a giant statue of Nelson Mandela in Pretoria, completing a 707-mile running test where Izzard fought through dehydration, heat exhaustion and sunstroke, said
The Press Association.
"It's been the hardest thing I've ever done and I'm very tired," Izzard told the
BBC News. "Thank you to everyone who has donated. This was tough so don't do this at home."
Izzard tried to complete the 27 marathons in South Africa in 2012 but pulled out for health reasons, said BBC. and when he missed one day during this year's attempt, it meant that would have to run two marathons in one day to make up for it.
Sport Relief is a British charity connected with Comic Relief and raises money to help the poorest communities in the United Kingdom and around the world, according its website.
Many congratulated Izzard on social media.
