Craig Carton resigned from WFAN on Wednesday, amid allegations that he was involved in a ticket-selling scam, leaving "The Morning Show with Boomer" as a one-man show.
Carton was arrested by the FBI last week, USA Today noted.
The long-time radio host, who shared a show with Boomer Esiason, said in a statement on Wednesday that the "unfounded legal issues currently plaguing me will only be a distraction to everyone at WFAN and the show I helped build."
He added that, "with that in mind, I have submitted my resignation to the station and they accepted."
Carton explained that he needed to focus on his family and wellbeing while clearing his name and "giving the show the best opportunity to succeed without further disruption."
His co-host was not afraid to weigh in on the matter on Thursday morning in his show, which was rebranded as "The Morning Show with Boomer."
"I think it’s a good move for Craig," Esiason said, explaining how Carton’s focus was primarily on the arrest.
"That’s the one thing that he has to take care of and that’s the one thing that we want him to do," Esiason continued.
He added that, by resigning, Carton relieved some pressure that his colleagues were facing at WFAN, although, Esiason pointed out that the station had been very quick to make changes.
"I’ve got to tell you, they came in here and scrubbed this studio quickly," he said.
"So if you’re watching on CBS Sports Network, everything has now changed."
