Bruno Mars saved bored football fans Sunday, singing and dancing his way through an entertaining halftime show and earning accolades for one of the top Super Bowl performances.
“Early on in his career, it was easy to dismiss Mars as merely another pop tart. Yet with Sunday's wonderful output, it's time we start discussing Mars along with the soulful likes of Jackie Wilson and Sam Cooke,”

Mars’ popularity after the halftime extravaganza is showing up in
ticket sales for his Moonshine Jungle World Tour, Hawaii News Now reported. Tickets for two Oahu performances went on sale at 9 a.m. Monday and sold out in minutes; a third concert was added.
USA Today asked the question: “Did the Super Bowl Make a Superstar Out of Bruno Mars?”
Carley Mallenbaum, host on USA Today’s Backstage, pointed out that when Mars was announced as the halftime entertainer, she had to do a story explaining who he was and what his song hits were. “Today, America is familiar with the performer,” she said after his Super Bowl performance.
People knew his music, but didn’t always connect his songs with Mars the singer, she said. But 2.2 million tweets that went out during Mars’ halftime show probably mean he’s getting his share of attention now.
One tweet summed up Mars’ domination of the event:
