Actor Samuel L. Jackson on Friday told voters to "stop Donald Trump" and get to the polls Tuesday to vote for "the Democratic Party" in Georgia's special election, Matt Shuman of Tlking Points Memo reports.
"There's a special congressional election on April 18. What can you do? Go vote! Your vote goes a long way towards setting things right in this country. Vote for the Democratic Party," Jackson said in a radio ad he recorded with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
Democrat Jon Ossoff is running to fill Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price's vacant congressional seat in Georgia's 6th district. The race is considered a tossup, even in the red state of Georgia.
The ad is aimed at turning out black voters and will run on urban radio stations in the Atlanta market through Tuesday.
"Stop Donald Trump, a man who encourages racial and religious discrimination and sexism," Jackson says. "Remember what happened the last time people stayed home. We got stuck with Trump. We have to channel the great vengeance and furious anger we have for this administration into votes at the ballot box. Do your friends and family a favor. Hell, do yourself a favor and vote on April 18, and make sure to vote for the Democratic Party."
