Donald Trump has the "emotional retardation of a three-year-old" and is a "racist," self-help guru Deepak Chopra said this week, before moving on to say Trump may also be "mentally retarded."
He added to Fox News Radio
host Alan Colmes that Trump's influence was leading him to step out of character to make those types of statements.
"He is unfortunately, and you know I would never say this unless I believe it to be 100 percent true, but he represents the racist, the bigot, the one who is prejudiced, the one who is full of fear and hatred, the one who represents the emotional retardation of a three-year-old," the alternative medicine and transcendental meditation advocate told Colmes.
However, Chopra eventually took his thoughts a step further later in the interview, laughing while telling Colmes that "maybe I was too kind when I said he was emotionally retarded, maybe he's mentally retarded too."
He said that he usually wouldn't normally use such words, but Trump is "bringing out the worst in him."
"Donald Trump at the moment is in a way representing the shadow of our collective consciousness," Chopra said. "I, too am fearful of what would happen to the U.S. and the rest of the forbid if, God forbid, he became president."
And, he said that the presumptive GOP nominee is so popular "because he's given permission to our collective psyche to express their darkest demons."
Chopra's interview echoed an opinion piece he wrote for The Huffington Post
earlier this week, when he said Trump represents a "shadow" that "compounds all the dark impulses — hatred, aggression, sadism, selfishness, jealousy, resentment, sexual transgression — that are hidden out of sight."
However, he conceded to Colmes that one "cannot defeat darkness with darkness"
