Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn feels good about seeing Republicans maintain their grasp on the Senate next week, despite a "squeaker of an election."
The Nov. 8 election is going to be awfully close up and down the ballot, the Texas Republican told host Joe Pagliarulo on the "The Joe Pags Show."
"This is going to be a squeaker of an election and who knows what is going to happen," Cornyn said. "It looks like the polls are closing between [Donald] Trump and [Hillary] Clinton and a lot of my friends and colleagues in the Senate.
"I'm feeling good about it today. If you just look at the averages of public poling, you probably say that we do maintain the majority of the Senate. But we have 54 senators now and some of the projections I've seen said if the election were held today we have 51."

Cornyn added the full impact of the FBI's investigations into Democrat Hillary Clinton's private email server and her family's foundation has yet to be addressed in poll results.
