Donald Trump has held onto his front-runner status in the GOP presidential race since shortly after announcing in June, but he says it's still way to early to be thinking about a running mate.

"There’s nobody I want to mention now. It’s just too early," Trump said Sunday on "The Cats Roundtable" on AM 970 in New York.

Trump also said he thinks Vice President Joe Biden has missed his chance to jump into the Democratic race after front-runner Hillary Clinton's performance in last week's debate.

"I think she [Hillary] did well enough in the debate that she’s going to get it, depending on what happens with the emails. But she’s being protected," Trump told host John Catsimatidis.
