Vice President Joe Biden debated stepping down from his post in the Obama administration after his son, Beau Biden, died in May, according to a report by
The New York Times.
Biden was reportedly concerned about the state of his grieving family, sources told the Times. However, it was an idea that he never considered too seriously, they added.
According to
Times columnist Maureen Dowd, while Beau was battling brain cancer, he told his father that he wanted him to run for president in 2016.
There are increasing rumors that Biden is considering a
run for the White House, especially since former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's poll numbers have been dropping.
The former first lady is in a dead heat with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders in New Hampshire in the most
recent poll of Granite State Democratic voters.
