The political reporter who says he was "body slammed" by the GOP candidate in a Montana special election called the encounter one of the most "surreal experiences" of his career.
In a video posted Thursday, Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs said he had asked "countless politicians countless questions and nobody's body-slammed me before."
"It was perhaps the most surreal experiences in my life," he said.
Jacobs was trying to ask Greg Gianforte a question about the Congressional Budget Office's score of the GOP healthcare bill to repeal Obamacare when the alleged assault happened.
"This was a very basic question on a key political issue, the probably dominant issue – or was the dominant issue the day before the election here," Jacobs said.
"On one level, this isn't the fact that a politician is attacking a reporter, but one adult is behaving in this manner toward another adult."
Gianforte was charged with misdemeanor assault and has disputed Jacobs' claims.
