Two Russian media outlets based in the United States are part of Russia's state-controlled information arm, according to an in-depth report.
The Daily Caller examines RT America and Sputnik, news organizations based in the Washington, D.C. area. The former broadcasts news programs, while Sputnik mainly publishes digital news.
Both outlets cater to young journalists looking for work straight out of college or with a few years of work under their belt. Pay is also decent for that field, with a starting range of around $50,000-$60,000, The Daily Caller reported.
"It wouldn't be terribly inaccurate to say that the [editorial] employees at RT America fit into either of a few different molds," a former RT America employee told The Daily Caller. "A good chunk of us could easily be described as young, budding journalists with at least a college degree and a couple of previous journalism gigs prior to being hired."
The same is true for Sputnik, the website reported.
RT America is a separate company from RT Moscow, but The Daily Caller claims they often work together on stories. A former RT America employee told the website content that is created at RT America is sold to RT Moscow for use in Russia.
RT America and Sputnik also have high turnover rates, according to the report. In 2014, a news anchor quit during a live RT America broadcast.
Russia's state-controlled media has been well-documented. A Huffington Post story last month profiled the state of the Russian media, which is creeping back to how it was during the Cold War.
The Russian state media announced last week it is supporting Republican Donald Trump in the presidential election.
