Biden Calls Cheney to Wish Him Well

Tuesday, 23 February 2010 04:57 PM EST

Vice President Joe Biden has called Dick Cheney to wish him well as the former vice president recovers from what is being described as a "mild heart attack."

Biden spoke first with Cheney's daughter Liz, and Cheney returned the call.

The two leaders spoke for roughly five minutes in what Biden's office called a friendly, personal conversation. At the end, Biden told Cheney to get better soon.

Cheney sustained the heart attack on Monday. He was reported to be feeling better and was expected to be released from a Washington hospital within a day or two.

Just over a week ago, Biden and Cheney appeared on Sunday talk shows and forcefully disputed each other's statements about national security.
