Trump on Suing Cruz: 'I Like to Send Letters'

By    |   Thursday, 18 February 2016 11:39 PM EST

Donald Trump Thursday disputed CNN host Anderson Cooper's question on whether he would "really" sue Republican rival Ted Cruz over a television campaign ad, saying "you don't know that, but I like to send letters.

"I have wonderful lawyers," he said at the network's Republican town hall in Columbia, S.C. "I like to send letters."

He slammed the ad, which quotes Trump's 1999 interview with Tim Russert of NBC's "Meet the Press" that he was "very pro-choice."

"That was 17 or 19 years ago," he said. "That was a long time ago.

"He'd just make up stories," Trump added. "It was inappropriate.

"We sent him something. We'll see what happens."
