Amy Lindsay, the former adult film actress who appeared in a Ted Cruz campaign ad, announced Monday she will vote for Donald Trump in the California Republican primary.
The Cruz campaign pulled the ad in early February after it was revealed that Lindsay, who was part of an ensemble cast, had appeared in adult films.
Lindsay made her announcement on CNN's
"The Lead with Jake Tapper," saying she has been a Trump fan since the 1980s when a college friend gave her Trump's book "The Art of the Deal" to read during spring break.
Lindsay suggested people read the book, or Trump's more recent "Crippled America."
"It's pretty great," she said. "Or heck, just go to his website, donaldjtrump.com. People say he's not talking about policies or issues; he's got seven of them laid out about immigration and taxes and vets and things like that. So I like what he stands for."
Lindsay said she also identifies with Trump over the attacks he has been facing as a presidential candidate.
"He's the front-runner, but he's also kind of — especially in this last week or so — become kind of an underdog," she said.
Lindsay said she became familiar with Cruz's platform while working on the ads — the rest of which never aired. But she said she has become unhappy with him recently.
