Expect Iran to violate
the nuclear arms framework agreed to on Thursday, if they haven't already, retired Gen. Jack Keane told Fox News Channel.
"I think what will happen is the Iranians will violate this, if they don't already have a secret site right now … that they're enriching uranium with centrifuges," Keane said Thursday on Fox News Channel's
"Your World with Neil Cavuto."
Under the framework, secret sites stay in place, Keane said, although two of them will be "re-missioned." He called a "vigorous and unfettered" inspections program to ensure compliance unlikely to succeed, describing it as "too much trust."
North Korea built a nuclear weapon despite a 1990s agreement that imposed similar restrictions, he noted.
The White House has to more fully explain the clause that keeps Iran a year away from nuclear weapons capability for the next decade, Keane said.
"I'm sure the Iranians will tout that as quite a deal for them, because in 10 years they can do what they want," Keane said, "and I think the administration owes it to us to explain what really happens at the end of 1o years. What have we really accomplished if they can still acquire a nuclear weapon at that time?"
