Hillary Clinton has opened up a double-digit lead over Donald Trump in the battleground state of Virginia, a new poll shows.
The CBC News battleground tracker poll released Sunday breaks down the Virginia race this way:
- Clinton: 49 percent
- Trump: 37 percent
Among Democrats, Clinton has 95 percent backing; Trump has the support of 79 percent of Republicans, with 6 percent of Virginia Republicans saying they'll support Clinton.
The poll showed a much tighter match in Arizona and Nevada. Here's those results:
In Arizona:
- Trump: 44 percent
- Clinton: 42 percent
In Nevada:
- Clinton: 43 percent
- Trump: 41 percent
In the Virginia survey, when voters were asked who is more prepared to be commander in chief, the poll showed 57 percent say Clinton, while 36 percent pick Trump.
But just 33 percent believe Clinton "tells the truth," fewer than half believe she'll "look out for people like you," and just 34 percent believe she can bring change to Washington.
On the question of changing Washington, 67 percent of Virginia voters believe Trump can do the job.
The Virginia poll has a margin of error of 3.7 points. The Arizona poll has a margin of error of 4.8 points. The Nevada poll has a margin of error of 4.6 points.
In a Real Clear Politics averaging of national polls, Clinton has a 7 point lead over Trump, 47.5 percent to 40.5 percent.
