Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul spent some time mocking his Republican opponent, Donald Trump, while on the campaign trail in New Hampshire.
"I'm all for levity, I'm all for humor, but I think reality TV and the presidential election ought to be separate," Paul told a crowd in Nashau on Wednesday,
according to a video released by CNN.
"So we now have people up there that say such profound things such as, 'You're stupid! You're fired! You're a pig! You look terrible! You only have half a brain!'" he joked.
"And then when you respond with an argument, it's like, 'You're stupid!'" the presidential hopeful said.
"Or my favorite is, 'You know the reason I tell women they're so ugly is because I'm so good looking. Everybody knows I'm good looking, right?" he added. "Or another one is, 'I must be smart, I'm rich. I'm rich, I got to be smart, right?"
Taking a more serious tone, the Kentucky Republican said that "the thing is, we've got to have an argument in our country. We have to have a discussion."
"I want to know, does he want government to be bigger or smaller? Does he want taxes to be higher or lower?" he added.
Paul is the only Republican candidate who has attempted to take on Trump's rise in the poll through a television ad in which he questions Trump's conservative credentials.
