Rep. Blackburn: Obama's Threats Disrespect Congress

By    |   Wednesday, 29 January 2014 12:04 AM EST

Rep. Marsha Blackburn told Newsmax on Tuesday that she was most troubled by President Barack Obama's repeated promises that he would bypass Congress and enact legislation by executive order to improve the nation's sagging economy.

"That is just so egregious and so arrogant," the Tennessee Republican said in an exclusive interview immediately after the president's State of the Union address. "We have never, ever had anybody — never had anybody — address Congress or talk to other branches of government in that manner.

"To just say, 'If you don't do what I want you to do, I'm going to do it on my own' — I have just never heard that."

Blackburn, 61, has been in Congress for 11 years.

"You don't hear this kind of attitude — and I think it is so incredibly unfortunate."
