Blood-Stained Gloves Reported in Guthrie Case

By    |   Saturday, 21 February 2026 09:57 AM EST

The search for Nancy Guthrie took another turn late Friday after a Tucson couple described finding what appeared to be blood-stained gloves in the desert near her neighborhood, as investigators continue to pursue leads in the high-profile disappearance.

According to KVOA, the couple, who asked to remain anonymous, discovered the items less than a mile from the neighborhood near Campbell Avenue on Feb. 11.

"Sure enough it was a black glove in the desert, it appeared to have looked like it was ripped," the wife said.

"It also appeared to look like it had blood on it," she continued.

"The blood appeared to be towards the wrist side of the glove and on the pointer finger.

"It looked like this was like used for something that could’ve possibly been what they were looking for," she said.

Less than 10 feet away, they said they found a second glove.

The husband added that there appeared to be additional possible evidence beneath one of the items.

"And also from the glove, it looked like a blood drop on a rock underneath the glove was like dried blood or something.

"We didn’t move it or touch it, we immediately were like we have to do something. So I was like I will call the sheriff department," he said.

Concerned rain in the forecast could affect the scene, the couple also dialed 911.

Deputies responded, questioned them, and remained at the site until about 2 a.m.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said it cannot confirm specifics about the gloves but acknowledged that detectives and agents have collected multiple gloves from the area and that forensic analysis is ongoing.

Authorities have not ruled out the possibility that more than one person may be involved in Guthrie’s disappearance.

The FBI continues to field tips around the clock through its 1-800-CALL-FBI hotline and online submissions, offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to Guthrie’s location or to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

An additional $202,500 reward is being offered through 88-CRIME.

The Sheriff’s 911 Communications Center reported receiving more than 32,000 calls between Feb. 1 and Feb. 19, up from nearly 22,000 during the same period last year.

Investigators are urging the public to submit only actionable tips to keep emergency lines available.
