Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., said fired Attorney General Pam Bondi must still testify before the House Oversight Committee about the Justice Department’s release of its files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Bondi had been set to testify before the committee later this month. She was fired by President Donald Trump Thursday, and replaced by Todd Blanche, who is serving as the acting attorney general.

"We did it by name and not by the title of the attorney general, so she’s still compelled and required by law to come before the committee," Mace said in an interview on CNN.

"And at this juncture, I’m not backing away from that or backing down from that," Mace added.

Last month, Mace introduced a subpoena before the Oversight Committee compelling Bondi to testify about her role in the release of the Epstein files.

Mace was one of four Republicans who signed onto a discharge petition compelling the Justice Department to release all its documents on the New York financier.

The South Carolina congresswoman has been a harsh critic of Bondi’s handling of the Epstein investigation.

"Bondi handled the Epstein Files in a terrible manner and seriously undermined President Trump," Mace wrote on social media after Bondi was fired.

"She has stonewalled every effort to hold the guilty accountable. The American people deserve an Attorney General who is transparent and delivers real accountability," Mace added.

"We look forward to a new Attorney General who is committed to getting justice for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein," Mace continued.

Mace said she was concerned about Blanche’s appointment given how he has handled the Epstein files.

"He’s mocked and gone after members of Congress who have had questions about the Epstein files," Mace said on CNN.

"And I think it’s very important that the next attorney general, that we show that there is not a two-tiered system of justice," Mace added.

Mace said she would support EPA Director Lee Zeldin being appointed Attorney General.

"The top prosecutor MUST hold predators accountable," Mace said on social media. "The American people deserve answers."
