These five modern fantasy characters did an amazing job capturing and conveying specific dreams to audience members worldwide.
1. Frodo
J.R. Tolkien’s behemoth work “The Lord of the Rings” is ranked first in
the National Public Radio’s list of best fantasy and science fiction novels. It’s no surprise Frodo tops this list of the greatest modern fantasy characters. Generations of readers have and will continue to cheer on this small but big-hearted hobbit on his quest to save all of Middle Earth from Sauron’s evil grasp. The first “Lord of the Rings” movie, the “Fellowship of the Ring,” was released in 2001. The whole franchise includes four original movies and a three-movie series of “The Hobbit,” the prequel to the “Fellowship of the Ring.”

2. Harry Potter
The Harry Potter series has been translated into 64 languages,
according to Raincoast Books. There are few series as popular worldwide as Harry Potter, which is why the main character earns spot No. 2 on this list. Harry’s unshakable courage and friends get him in and out of the worst scrapes the wizarding world has to offer. This seven-book series depicts various scenes involving giant spiders, ominous prophecies, love potions, and much more. The majority of Harry’s adventures occur at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where Harry fights the evil powers of mass murderer Lord Voldemort.
3. Captain Jack Sparrow
The figurehead of the infamous Pirates of the Caribbean series, Captain Jack Sparrow manages to be both one of the best and of the worst pirates of all time. He eludes capture by British officers and somehow saves the governor’s daughter at the same time. However, he also lost his ship, crew, and as it often seems to appear, his mind.
4. Aslan
Aslan appears throughout C.S. Lewis’ timeless “Chronicles of Narnia” series. While all of the seven books were not developed into movies, the three that were focus on this giant, ubiquitous lion that created Narnia.
5. Aladdin
The main character of this popular animated film of the same name is street-wise and savvy, and his adoration for Jasmine just adds to his charm. Aladdin made
the top of Total Film’s best fantasy character lists.
