Arguably one of the most influential male actors of all time, the late Marlon Brando has been the recipient of numerous awards and award nominations during his long career. Marlon Brando's awards range from Oscars to a Golden Sour Apple Award for the Least Cooperative Actor, and even a Razzie Award for the Worst Supporting Actor.

1. The Academy Awards

In a stunning move, Brando refused to accept the Oscar in 1973 for his memorable portrayal of mafia patriarch Vito Corleone and sent Sacheen Littlefeather, a Native American actress, in his place to raise awareness of the poor treatment of Native Americans by the film and television industries.

2. Golden Globes Awards

Brando received five Golden Globes nominations and five wins, including:
  • Golden Globe in 1955 for Best Motion Picture Actor — Drama, "On the Waterfront"
  • Henrietta Award in 1956 for World Film Favorite — Male
  • Golden Globe in 1973 for Best Motion Picture Actor – Drama, "The Godfather"
  • Henrietta Award in 1973 for World Film Favorite – Male, "The Godfather"
3. Prime-Time Emmy Awards

Brando sought a small but memorable role in the television series "Roots: The Next Generation" in 1979. He won a Prime-Time Emmy in 1979 for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Special for his performance as George Lincoln Rockwell, the founder of the American Nazi Party.

4. British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards

Brando scored four nominations and three wins for BAFTA film awards between 1953 and 1990. He won Best Foreign Actor three years in a row, from 1953 to 1955, for his roles in "Viva Zapata!," "Julius Caesar," and "On the Waterfront."

6. “Bad News” Awards

As successful as Brando’s acting career was for many years, he also faced the critics.

In 1961, Brando won the Golden Sour Apple Award for the Least Cooperative Actor.

In 1997, Brandon received a Razzie Award for the Worst Supporting Actor for his role in The Island of Dr. Moreau, one of his least successful films.

He was nominated three other times for a Razzie.
